In good condition. Gorgeously bound in navy blue morocco leather. Light rubbing at joints with slight discoloration from age and sun exposure. Five raised bands with dated spine. Light rubbing of corners. Delicately tooled inner gilt dentelles nicely preserved. Remnants of an old bookplate on front paste down. Marbled fore edge was then lavishly gilt overtop. Remains bright and clean. Silk bookmarker detached, but intact. Unlikely that its original. Free of ownership or markings. Binding tight and intact. A beautiful book worthy of an important library! Please see photos. Margaret of Valois was a French princess of the Valois dynasty who became queen consort of Navarre and later also of France. By her marriage to Henry III of Navarre, she was queen of Navarre and then France at her husband's 1589 accession to the latter throne.
