Description: DATING TO THE 1850’S THIS PIECE WAS ACQUIRED FROM THE ORIGINAL CENTRAL OHIO ESTATE AND IS SEWN ENTIRELY BY HAND. ONE PIECE IN CONSTRUCTION. WIDE SET NECKLINE WITH SHORT PUFF SLEEVES TRIMMED IN EMBROIDERED INDIA MUSLIN WITH AN EMBROIDERED SCALLOPED EDGE. EYELET AND DRAWNWORK IS INSERTED AT EACH SHOULDER. THE SKIRT FALLS LONG WITH TWO GROUPINGS OF PLEATING AND A FLOUNCING RUFFLE IN BEAUTIFUL SAWTOOTH DETAIL OVER A PLEATED BOTTOM THAT AGAIN HAS SAWTOOTH DETAIL, GIVING A DOUBLE LAYERED EFFECT. HOOK AND EYES CLOSE THE REAR. CONDITION: THE HOOK AND EYES ARE A MORE MODERN VICTORIAN REPLACEMENT AND ARE MADE OF STEEL, I WOULD CONSIDER REPLACING. FINGERTIP HOLE IS ON THE TOP RIGHT SHOULDER IN THE EMBROIDERY AND DRAWNWORK. THREE TINY PINHEAD HOLES ARE ON THE FRONT RIGHT SHOULDER WITH A SERIES OF FOUR LARGER HOLES ON THE CENTER BUST. A MEND WAS TAKEN AND WAS WELL DONE ON THE FRONT LEFT WAISTLINE THAT IS ERASER IN SIZE. THE INTERIOR SHOWS A REPAIR ALONG THE CLOSURE ON THE INNER RIGHT REAR WITH ANOTHER REPAIR TAKEN TO THE TOP LEFT CORNER OF THE CLOSURE. THE BOTTOM HAS TWO SMALL STAINS WITH AN AREA OF MOUSE CHEWED DAMAGE ON THE REAR LEFT RUFFLE AND THE PLEATING, NOTE THE LAST IMAGE. A WONDERFUL DRESS TO RESTORE, IN VERY CLEAN CONDITION.
