Description: February 13, 1889: The Count of the Electoral VoteAuthentic 1889 U.S. House of Representatives Counting of the Vote Reserved Gallery TicketGrover Cleveland defeats Benjamin Harrison For sale is an authentic February 13, 1889, "The Count of the Electoral Vote" ticket. The ticket admitted the bearer to the Reserved Gallery of the U.S. House of Representatives. At the time, Inaugurations were still held in March which is why the count took place in February. The Speaker of the House, as indicated on the ticket, was John G. Carlisle. In the election of 1888, Grover Cleveland received 233 electoral votes while Benjamin Harrison earned 168. The extremely rare ticket is well worn with a large crease (see reverse for better detail) and two bent corners. The ticket is made from heavy cardboard stock. Again, this is a hard to come by ticket from the 1889 Count of the Electoral Vote. Domestic shipping for this item is free for USPS First Class Shipping. Please message with any questions. Thank you!
