Mr. Taft has just completed an eleven foot plaster statue of the Civil War president, but instead of portraying the emancipator as a man bowed by his heavy responsibilities, as so many others have done, Mr. Taft depicts Lincoln as a lawyer, a young man just beginning his life's work. This is Mr. Taft's first attempt to fashion the likeness of Lincoln. It is now being cast in bronze and then will be sent to Urbana, Illinois, where it will be erected in a park this spring, having been ordered by the late Harrison E.
