Gruelle is best known for his 'Raggedy Ann Series'. Although this story does not feature Raggedy Ann, her friends Beloved Belindy and Uncle Clem are included (as well as Wooden Willie of course). They provide entertainment as well as moral lessons to their young audiences: to be kind to those you meet, to always be generous, and to help those that need it. The story is, of course, accompanied by Gruelle's signature illustrations on nearly every page! All illustrations are full-color and very bright and cheerful! There are 11 full-page color plates as well as numerous smaller in-text illustrations. This is a copy of the scarce and popular 1927 Donahue reprint of the 1927 Volland first edition.
