Description: 1937 Helen Keller Japanese Postcard Extremely RARE This postcard features a half-divided back and the inscription 郵便はかき, which dates it to the period between 1918 and 1933. However, we believe the photograph on the postcard was taken in 1937, during Helen Keller's first visit to Japan. Helen Keller visited Japan from April 15 to June 11, 1937, traveling extensively throughout the country, giving lectures, and meeting with various groups and individuals. While the author of the words on this postcard remains unknown, and the full text is difficult to read, the main message conveyed by '闇と隔なき, 世界皆兄弟也' can be translated as: 'Without barriers of darkness, the world is all brothers,' or something to that effect. Photos of her visit to Japan are well documented, but this one, likely a studio photograph, appears to be unpublished. As a postcard, it is possible that other examples exist in private collections, but this may be the only one available for sale. It is worth your strong consideration!
