Description: Here is an extremely rare Marx vinyl windup vibrating toy figure made in 1967. This is the Scarecrow from the Wizard of Oz. But it is actually a TV show tie-in for a short-lived combination animation/live action show from 1967 and 1968 called "Off to See the Wizard" which ran on ABC. This show was MGM's (Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer) attempt to feature the first TV telecasts of their most popular recent live-action family films, sort of the way DIsney would show their films. The animated characters did the lead-ins and the end of the show. Anyway, Marx must have gotten the license for this one, and they made these vinyl figures of the Scarecrow, the Cowardly Lion, and the Tin Man. I believe that they only made those three. I FINALLY got a complete and working example of the Scarecrow recently, so I figured I would let someone else have a crack at my "placeholder" which is now a duplicate for me. You almost NEVER see these figures up for sale, and since the paper cover over the bottom of the figures is often missing (torn off by the child, no doubt) most people don't even know what they are when they have them! And the few times I have seen someone sell them who knows what they have, they inevitably want well over a hundred dollars per figure! The vinyl figure is in nice shape, the vibrating windup motor is in pieces, and the paper label for the bottom is long gone. I did take a picture of the bottom of my new Scarecrow, so that you can see the label. My new one is NOT included, and no, I am not interested in selling my set of three! Took way too long to locate and purchase, plus they'll be going on display at the museum (check my bio in my store if you don't know what I mean by that). Sitting on the shelf, this little roughly 4-inch-tall figure will look great and be a neat addition to someone's collection out there. And now that you know what they are, perhaps you will be able to locate the other two as I did! Photos from many angles, with a yardstick in the shots for size reference. Priced reasonably (especially for such a rarity!), with only actual USPS Ground Advantage or Priority Mail shipping cost charged to the winner!
