1972 Knickerbocker Women's Society Debutante Cotillion New York Waldorf Astoria

Description: For a short period in the 1970's there was an annual Debutante Ball held by the KNICKERBOCKER INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS AND PROFESSIONAL WOMEN'S SOCIETY, which included a dance, awarding of scholarships and the crowning of a Miss Knickerbocker and Mr. Knickerbocker for a two year period. This one took place at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City and was no small affair. PROGRAM: This program is about a hundred pages with at least 40 pages of content and followed by tons of advertising. The first 40 pages have tons of photos that identify all of the important figures in this "Society" and all of the debutantes, sub-debutantes, former debutantes, etc. The master of ceremonies was Benjamin W. Watkins, the locality Mayor of Harlem There is some exterior soiling. The centerfold, which is also the program for the evening, has separated from the staples as there was too much paper and not enough staple and it was probably easier to handle the program outside of the book. The next center page has loosened from one staple. There are handling creases, especially on the silver and gold colored paper, which has a different texture. There are small ink notations (Photos 2,3,5,6,7,8) where the owner of the book noted awards given to others. Owner name on front cover. The owner of the book is listed in the "Honor Guard Profile" (Photo 8) and the name matches that on the cover. At the time she was the highest ranking woman in the NYC Social Security Office, which was worth mentioning for a group devoted to professional women. This program becomes more interesting due to the number of photos and the great hair. Based on New York Times information, this would have been the fourth annual dinner dance. By 1978, this debutante ball was referred to as the Crystal Ball.  tall THE KNICKERBOCKER INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS AND PROFESSIONAL WOMEN'S SOCIETY, INC. was registered as a not-for-profit in 1965.
