19th c. Neopolitan School Painting "Isola di Capri"

Description: We offer an original unsigned gouache painting on paper that is 10" x 14" and inscribed Isola di Capri. This vivid guazzo of Capri was likely a souvenir for wealthy tourists on their Grand Tour of Italy. The anonymous artists of the Neapolitan School were more invested in the idea of a painting than the painting itself, and we are left with an iconic visual language that appeals to our modern sensibilities. Condition: Scattered scratches on the surface, most noticeable at the bottom right corner of the image, a 3/4" repaired tear at the bottom painted margin well away from image and a faint crease at the top left corner, otherwise very good. Shipping Notes: We ship same day via USPS upon receipt of payment before 3 PM. Payments received Monday-Friday (after 3 PM) will be shipped the next morning. Payments received after 3 PM on Fridays and on Saturdays & Sundays will be shipped no later than the following Monday morning. A note about packing: Check our feedback.
