Thomas Jefferson even assisted Trumbull in portraying the accuracy of the scene. The original hangs in the rotunda of the US Capitol and is also featured as the reverse scene on the $2 bill. A bit more history: The United States Post Office issued its first stamp on July 1, 1847. Since that time, over 5000 stamps have been released. Each stamp is given its own identification number called a Scott Number. These stamps have been designated as Scott Number 1691-1694.
