(No Ohio license plates were issued in 1943 in order to conserve metal for World War II military needs. Instead, windshield stickers were issued to revalidate the previous year's plates.) These license plates were inherited from my grandfather who lived on West 45th Street in Cleveland, Ohio. Every year when a new license plate would come out, he would nail the old one on the back wall of his garage. He did this every year from 1925 up through the early 1960s. Later, my father continued to do this with his license plates. This complete set of nine Ohio license plates comes from a non-smoking household.
