Description: Chester William Nimitz [1885 1966] was a five-star admiral of the United States Navy who commanded all Pacific Forces against Japan during World War II. In 1945, he was appointed as the Chief of Naval Operations and served until his retirement in 1947. Admiral Nimitz was also the United States last surviving Fleet Admiral. Listed for auction is a vintage photograph signed by Admiral Chester Nimitz. The photograph is a formal b/w naval image of Admiral Nimitz, and the autograph is signed ''C. W. Nimitz Fleet Admiral'' in black fountain pen. The photograph measures 5.00 x 3.75 inches, it has trivial edge wear otherwise it is in fine condition. The autograph is authentic, un-inscribed which is difficult to obtain on photographs and is a desirable example of this prominent naval commander and is ideal for display.
