Description: Amazing Royal Navy Sailors Woolwork or Woolie of HMS Devonshire (d.1905) Fresh from the framers is this genuine antique sailors woolwork or woolie of the Devonshire Class armoured cruiser. Devonshire, named to commemorate the English county, was laid down at Chatham Royal Dockyard on 25 March 1902 and completed in 1905, the first keel-plate was laid by the Prince of Wales (later King George V). The Woolie is now completely preserved for many years to come in a burr walnut frame and has been mounted behind glass. It depicts HMS Devonshire at sea in full tilt, flying the White Ensign to the stern. Overall it measures 10” x 8.5” and is ready to hang and admire.
