Inspired by the organic shapes in nature, this silver-plated bronze jardiniere with liner incorporates the sub-style of the Louis XV period, known as Rocaille. Rocaille artistry is denoted by vast movement, comprised of undulations and counter curves, which are seen in great detail along the sides of the concave oval jardiniere with gadroon embellishment. The inner part is made out of sterling silver, marked accordingly and weigh 451g. The jardiniere is mostl likely silver plated with some parts made of sterling silver. I checked in several places and even cut a small piece out of the support pin – all tested for sterling silver. Excellent condition, consistent of age and use.
