Description: Eye catching antique 19th century c1890s original coastal New England seascape/landscape oil painting depicting a sand beach with a marooned row boat. A wooded hillside can be seen in the distance with boats on the ocean in the further distance. Well done with pleasing brushstrokes and nice capture of light and depth. Medium is oil on academy board done in an Impressionist style. Initialed by the artist in the bottom left, E.W.P.; quite worthy of further research and possibly by an artist of notoriety. Provenance comes from a Massachusetts estate. Framed in its original antique 19th century lemon gold gilded gesso and wood frame and ready to hang. Painting in Excellent condition, clean and crisp with no scuffs, scrapes, holes or tears. Gentle toning. Frame has a nice patina with no damage to the gesso with the exception of a small ding to one corner. Measures 12” x 5” and 15” x 8” with the frame.
