Enlèvement de Fatmé”, for the Series “Voyages autour du monde et naufrages célèbres”, by Gabriel Lafond de Lurcy, 1840’s As signed in the plate on each side of the image, this antique French plate was drawn by J. Collignon, possibly Jules Collignon (1811-1846), French illustrator, and engraved by Lechard. It is hand colored and highlighted with gum arabic for texture and increased color saturation.
