Description: Antique Russian Orthodox Icon of Christ the Pantocrator on wood. Measures 8" x 6.25" and comes with metal oklad (a.k.a. riza). Overall, very nice vintage condition with worn Russian text on the back. Difficult to read. I bought this from a seller who advertised it as being hand painted/"written" in Lithuania. Look closely and you can see tremendous detail and brush strokes. Also, the protective metal overlay fits snug and doesn't seem to be easily removable. But I was told it was handmade bronze. This is a real one of a kind work of "art" and quality craftsmanship. Estimated to be from early twentieth century. Will be carefully packed in bubble wrap with plenty of protective padding in sturdy cardboard box. Includes free stand (as shown).
