Description: ANTIQUE SIMPSON HALL MILLER & CO TREBLE PLATE AESTHETIC MOVEMENT FIGURAL COMPOT This is an unique antique Simpson Hall Miller & Co Treble Plate #1480 Aesthetic Movement figural footed compote. This compote or bowl measures about 8 3/4" tall, about 10 1/4" across the top and about 7 3/4" deep at the top. The bottom is marked Simpson Hall Miller & Co. Treble Plate #1480 on the bottom. I believe this compote dates between 1866 and 1898. The compote is decorated with flowers, leaves, and fans on the inside of the bowl of the compote. The band around the top of the compote is decorated with birds, leaves, vines, grapes, flowers, and butterflies. On the base of the compote stands two asian figures. One figure has long hair in a ponytail wearing a skirt?, shirt and long coat. The second figure has a bun in their hair, short pants, a long blouse, and a long coat. The coat and shirt has an embroidered look on the sleeves, down the front and on the shirt. Both figures have on hand on their hip. The figure with the bun in their hair is golden or brass in color. I don't know if it was polished this way, or if the figure was originally made this way. The same figure is missing a nut on the bottom of the base to keep the figure in place. The figures stand about 3" tall. The base of the compote is oblong with four decorative feet. The Compote could use a good polishing. There is a slight bend on the bottom edge of the top side band. The Simpson Hall Miller & Co. compote was purchased from an estate many years ago.
