EMD followed its hugely successful GP-9 production with the GP-18 model beginning in 1959. Nickel Plate acquired ten units in 1960. They remained on roster well into the Norfolk Western merger of 1964. The model has been stored in the original packaging since purchased new. There are no indications of any previous use. It test runs perfectly with factory-installed LED lighting. This is a non-DCC version of the model. It features a 21-pin DCC plug for easy conversion to digital operation.
