Description: Exquisite Decorative CUP & SAUCER Set, Beautiful FLORAL SPRAYS w/Green Leaves & GOLD Trim, from Tirschenreuth, Bavaria, Germany, circa 1949-1970 DESCRIPTION: The beautiful cup & saucer were hand decorated with floral sprays with leaves in a large bouquet. There are smaller floral sprays sprinkled around the rim of the items. The design looks so classic. The rim is trimmed in double ring gold while the verge has a single ring of bolder gold. This makes a beautiful display or can be used everyday. Please check our eBay store for other Tirschenreuth Queensrose #159 items. CONDITION: While this set is classified as used, the condition is superb. There are no chips, nicks, cracks, rubbings, scratches or hairlines. There is no wear to the gold or colors. The photos show a full view of each with additional close-ups. DIMENSIONS: The cup has a diameter of 3 7/8" with a height of 2 1/8" and has a capacity of 8 ounces. The saucer has a diameter of 5 7/8" and a height of 3/4". HISTORY/MARKS: Carl Magnus Hutschenreuther formed his company in 1814 in Hohenberg an der Eger, Bavaria and his son, Lorenz Hutschenreuther formed his company in 1857 in Selb, Bavaria. This latter company acquired P.T. Porcelain Factory in 1927 and then in 1969 was merged with the former company and continued operation as Hutschenreuther AG (Selb, Bavaria) until 1994 when the Tirschenreuth factory was closed due to bankruptcy. This set has the underglaze "P.T." Bavaria Tirschenreuth Germany mark on it. The P. T. Bavaria Porcelain Factory Tirschenreuth was founded in 1838 in Tirshenreuth, Bavaria. After Hutschenreuther purchased the pottery in 1927, the mark was modified. The mark on this is cited as mark #8 by the website marks4antiques as used 1927-1948 after the acquisition by Hutschenreuther (Selb) in 1927. Germany was added to this mark after WWII. It also has the green mark #3 Pasco importer’s mark which was used 1948-1970. This is circa 1949-1970 because it does not have US Zone, but we think it is probably in the early 1950’s time period.
