Description: It is often hard to know the provenance of a book this old but for this book there is a hint. While it is hard to read the name on the endpaper, it is easy to read that the Reverend who own the book lived in Kokomo, Indiana. Tucked inside was a calling card from Elder Alma Findlay, Jr. (1892 – 1976) that has the LDS Articles of Faith on the reverse side. Born in Laketown, Rich, Utah Territory he served in the Northern States Mission and died in Bloomington, Bear Lake, Idaho where the calling card is from. Is it possible to assume they both served in the Northern States Mission? A very beautiful copy of this Fifth Chicago Edition. Condition: Dark black hardbound cloth boards with gold gilt title on the spine, with a debossed border around the front cover, textured insert, and scroll design in the center, which is replicated on the rear board as well. Spine is in very good condition with slight wear at the top and bottom of the back strip and light rubbing along the front gutter. The boards are in very nice condition with only a cosmetic blemish to the lower front corner. Corners are sharp with the tiniest of wear at the tips. Spine is firm with no cracking to the endpapers but show light foxing. Text block is solid with all pages firmly attached. Age tanning throughout. Previous owner name and address on the front endpaper. There is a soft crease at the top of page 335 that carries through to page 356 otherwise, all interior pages are clean with no tears, cracks, or other previous owner marks. 623 pages Dimensions: H – 6-1/2” W – 4-1/2”
