Description: This 1966 woodblock print by Charles Mwenze Mungolo depicts an African hunter and various animals, including zebras, in the grass plains. It's signed in ink and dated beneath the plate. Mungolo was born ca. 1940 in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (at the time known as the Belgian Congo) and he studied art at the Academy of Folk Art and the Academy of Fine Art in Lubumbashi. He's known for using his artworks to depict daily life and traditions of the Congolese people. Mungolo's art has been displayed throughout Africa, the United States, and Canada. Additionally, his work was featured at the 1958 Belgian World's Fair, known as Expo 58. The print measures 17.5 inches by 14 inches, and comes with double black mats and a black frame that measures 20 inches in length and 16 inches in height. There are some stains and creases along the edges, but none are visible in the frame and the print is in good condition.
