Description: Confederate surcingle for use with Civil War period saddles. Surcingles were and are a safety item when riding. With Wool in short supply Confederates resorted to using cotton for many applications to meet the needs of soldiers in the field. This cotton webbing surcingle is 3 inches wide and the length is 55 inches, same as the US Regulation surcingle. The billet is 1 1/2 wide and 33 inches overall. Great piece showing the shortages of the Confederate supply system. All items are made start to finish in a small, one-man, veteran operated shop all American leather and parts, (no foreign stuff here!) (This is not my day job either, so I can provide items cheaper than the big boys, like this one for instance!) Shop prices, check my feedback, then bid with confidence. Most items ship next day USPS.
