His family moved to Hong Kong in 1946 where he was raised. Lee began painting at age four. He was educated in Hong Kong and attended Taiwan University, where he received a B.A. in Fine Arts. He also attended Kaoshung University in Taiwan and the Far East Academy of Art in Hong Kong. Lee was trained in the classical tradition of Oriental brushwork. Lee has perfected a rich sense of composition and style combining the delicate loveliness of watercolors with Western concepts of design. Lee was the youngest winner ever of the prestigious Chinese National Painting Competition. After moving to Hawaii, Lee initially worked for the Consulate General of the Republic of China in the Foreign Affairs Department. Upon leaving the consulate, he devoted himself to his artwork full-time. Lee has had numerous one-man shows throughout the world including Hawaii, the U.S. Mainland, Canada, Japan, France, Germany, Switzerland, and Taiwan. Lee's paintings hang in the permanent collection of the Taiwan University, in the National Museum of Taiwan, and the Chuk-Yun Museum in Hong Kong.
