Description: This is an early Victorian, Late Georgian Brooch, dating from the 1830s +/-. It is crafted from 10K gold as well as sterling silver. The bird is covered in rose cut as well as table cut natural earth mined diamonds. The crown of the bird features round cut emeralds and a tiny cabochon eye. The bird looks to be flight or perhaps just taking off. The diamonds are all in a closed back setting. Most of the diamonds are in a collette settings as well as milliegrain settings. The foliage is spectacular and in solid 10K gold. The foliage is also covered in closed back settings of table as well as rose cut diamonds. The back of the brooch features a plunger clasp to a straight pin. If one wanted to convert this to a pendant; they do sell a tube like conversation with a bail that simply slides over the straight pin. The back of the brooch shows the gold and silver work nicely. I do see old soldier from the gold to the silver portion of this brooch. It is very stableh and secure with no movement. The condition of this brooch is wonderful. There are no missing stones all complete and secure in their setting. This is a lovely large brooch that demands attention.
