The "Black Gold" bass, made by Fender Custom Shop Master Builder Greg Fessler, has been a favorite on stage and on recordings since it was acquired by the band. It became a topic of conversation. Now, the "Made in Japan J Precision Bass® Black Gold", a Japanese-made version of the same specifications, will be released as a signature bass. The new bass features a reverse head that expresses J's musical philosophy, as well as a reproduction of the original Black Gold color, which was inspired by J's love of motorcycles and vintage helmets from the 70's. This color can be seen from different angles, and is a perfect match for the J Precision Bass®. This color, which looks different from different angles, gives various impressions depending on the lighting on the stage. The one-piece maple neck, profiled from the Custom Shop, has a 7.25" radius, Narrow Tall frets, and a 42mm nut width, while retaining the grip of the 50's, for smooth playing even during long hours on stage. The combination of the ash body and the J Custom P Bass® pickup, newly developed for this model, produces a rich midrange that does not get buried when driven.
