Description: PLEASE READ DESCRIPTION THOROUGHLY and LOOK AT ALL THE PHOTOS Hi this sale is for a can motor and flywheel upgrade kit for the Hobbytown Alco RS3 and RSD4/5 road switchers, and Hobbytown hood unit chassis that are designed to fit Athearn plastic hood unit diesel shells. This motor kit will also fit the Hobbytown yard switcher chassis. This motor kit is designed to replace the Pittman DC70 open frame motor. This motor kit will improve low speed operation, a lower top speed, and operating noise will be reduced. The motor kit utilizes the existing Hobbytown universal couplings. If you have any questions, please contact me before purchasing this kit. This may save you the hassle of returning the kit. The motor measures 30mm long x 18mm high x 18mm wide, the motor has a 6-pole armature, and it has very high torque, this is a heavy-duty motor. At 12 volts DC with no load the motor draws 40ma and develops 7250 rpm. The stall current is 1 amp, this motor is DCC compatible. This motor will start turning smoothly on 1/2 volt DC and it is silent when operating. The flywheel measures 5/8 inch in diameter and it is 1/2 inch long. The flywheel output shaft is 3/32 inch in diameter, and it is 3/4-inch long. This is an easy kit to install, installation time is about 1 1/2-2 hours. The kit uses the existing Hobbytown universal couplings. The motor kit consists of one can motor, flywheel and shaft, hook up wire, hardware, and illustrated installation instructions. The 3rd photo shows what the motor kit would look like installed on a Hobbytown RSD4/5 chassis or a Hobbytown GP9 chassis. This is an unassembled kit. PLEASE NOTE! The Hobbytown chassis that are shown in the photos are NOT included with the motor kit, The Hobbytown universal couplings and factory installed flywheels ARE NOT included.
