Description: Hofner Serial #1 Left Handed Custom Shop Gold Top 500/2 Club Bass w Case One-of-a-kind left-handed Hofner hollow body bass guitar was custom ordered and made in Germany, completed on October 4, 2001 and has the serial number #1. This special instrument is unique in that it is the only left-handed Hofner gold top club bass we're aware of. The guitar has a beautifully flamed back in a burgundy color. It has a rosewood fingerboard with pearloid dot inlays. It has the Hofner signature teacup knobs and control panel, as well as nickel staple neck and bridge pickups. The bound neck is perfectly straight and the action is low and fast. It is currently strung with factory-installed Pyramid Gold flatwound strings. The bass has not been frequently played so there is very low mileage on the strings. The gold finish on the top of the guitar is naturally reliced in that there are small cracks which are hardly noticeable - see close-up photos. The pickguard is not attached but included due to a known Hofner issue of "gassing". This causes a chemical interaction which damages the metal parts and strings of the bass. As you can see in the photo of the underside of the pickguard, the bottom nail which was attached to the bridge has rusted out due to the gassing issue. Though the pickguard IS included with the guitar, I would very strongly recommend NOT attaching it, as evidenced by the gassing issue on the nail.
