Description: Super interesting Davis Lynch Company United Steelworkers Vintage Milk Glass Lidded Jar Made in West Virginia Measures 7 inches tall by about 7 1/2 inches across. Condition: Pre-owned. Two teeny tiny fleabites to the inside of the lip of the bowl. (see pictures).Handpainted and signed Davis Lynch Company milk glass lidded bowl. Signed S.R. on reverse. Beautiful blue roses with white daisies. Accented by attractive teal and green floral leaves.These glass bowls are featured in the Weston, West Virginia Museum of American Glass. This bowl has a silkscreened United SteelWorkers logo on the bottom. It's not a sticker, but actually silk screened right onto the glass itself. The text reads Made by Local 26-T for Local 8-957 Morgantown, W.V.I can only assume that the artists at the Davis Lynch Company are unionized and that this was possibly a presentation piece. The glass museum has one similar piece and this is the description from their web site: 26-T is the Davis-Lynch local. The American Flint Glass Workers Union (AFGWU) merged with the United Steelworkers in 2003. Local 8-957 represents workers at the Mylan Pharmaceutical Plant. That local became part of the USW in 2005. Doesn't go into much explanation about the reason this is marked in such a manner. Interesting and unusual piece. I also assume that there are a limited number of these bowls out in the wild. So this would be a somewhat rare piece. This will be packed carefully and double boxed to protect it during shipping.
