Description: Here I have for sale a lovely stated First Modern Library edition of John Updike's The Poorhouse Fair & Rabbit, Run, both instant classics when published. This was published by Modern Library in 1965. The book is VG+ and would be Near Fine but for a prior owner's stamped name on title page. The book is otherwise lovely with tight binding, clean, beautiful, green boards and bright gilt. The pages other than the title page are clean and unmarked, quite pristine. The dust jacket is VG+ with still bright colors. Very mild chipping at top and bottom of spine and along top edge. The back panel has some scuffing. It is price-clipped and protected in mylar. Priced below Toledano's guide price for this lovely first. Thanks, and see my other listings of Modern Firsts, Everyman's Library, Modern Library and Oxford World's Classics.
