Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Offering this lovely, quite large and heavy (almost 4 pounds) ewer/pitcher made by master potter Kevin Crowe of Tye River Pottery using a specially designed and built wood-fired kiln. Ewer measures 9 ¼ inches high by 7 inches wide at the handle. Wonderful condition with no cracks or chips. The few spots with missing glaze on the handle are not chips but spots where glaze did not adhere during firing. It may even be done intentionally to give the piece a more rustic, worn feel. Glazed in a beautiful coral color with an Asian inspired design. Got this from a gentleman in VA who was a big supporter of Crowe’s work and talked at length about this piece. Display’s very nicely in any setting but would be particularly great in chinoiserie décor. A real gem. I am pricing this as accessibly as I can as I would really like this to go to a nice collection. Thanks. Kevin Crowe started Tye River Pottery in Nelson County, Virginia, in 1980. He makes wood-fired pots inspired by Asian and English potters. He has taught workshops throughout the United States and Great Britain focused on kiln building, wood firing, large-scale throwing, and tea bowls. Kevin lives in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains with his wife, Linda, and furry studio companions, Ash and Little Man. This exquisite Kevin Crowe Tye River Pottery piece comes from a studio pottery collection that includes Howard Kottler, Frans Wildenhain, Laura Andreson, Betty Feves and many others, all items I have collected in my travels over the years. Recent health issues have compelled me to find new homes for much of this art that has given me so much joy. Some of the most important pieces will be left to AMOCA and other institutions but many others will be listed here in the near future along with other items I am passing along.
