Description: A Stunning KTK Lotus Ware Valenciennes Jug w/Fishnet Pattern, AppliedTwig Handle & Dainty Purple Violet Swags, Signed by the Artist. This is a book piece, similar in Valenciennes Jug on page 33 of the "Knowles, Taylor & Knowles American Bone China" by Timothy J. Kearns and on page 44 of the "Collectors Encyclopedia of Knowles, Taylor & Knowles China" by Mary Frank Gaston. This is known as the Valenciennes Jug - but is really a creamer. This is the prettiest hand-painted one I have seen - with dainty swags purple violets with green leaves - 4 different swags around the piece alternating with gold fishnet work with light lavender accent dots - it is simply stunning & no wonder that it is signed by the artist on the bottom!! The piece stands approximately 3" high at the top of the handle and is 4 1/4" wide from the spout to the end of the handle. It is in excellent condition -no chips or cracks. There is some loss of gold trim on the top and handle. The stamp on the bottom places this piece as being produced from 1889 - 1896. Lotus Ware was made for only a short period of time in East Liverpool, Ohio. It is considered scarce and highly collectible.
