Mac Macintosh 512k Logic Board/Memory Expansion Kit M2515 630-0118-B (1984 128k)

Description: This is a very rare upgrade kit, for the original 1984 Macintosh, that Apple sold to Apple dealers. It was used by the dealers to upgrade a customer's 1984 Macintosh 128k to a Macintosh 512K. The dealer opened the Mac, pulled out the original 128k logic board and replaced it by the 512k logic board included in the kit. The dealer then replaced the "Macintosh" name badge on the back of the computer with a "Macintosh 512K" name badge included in the kit. Result? An instant upgrade to a Mac 512k and instantly quadrupling the memory! Macs upgraded this way ended up with the serial number of a 128K Mac (with M0001 in the serial number), but were actually 512k Macs with a 512k logic board. This “Macintosh 512K Memory Expansion Kit” comes in its original padded box in an anti-static bag. Note that this is a FULL Macintosh 512k logic board - part number: 630-0118-B. Also included is the unused, self-adhesive, “Macintosh 512K” name badge that was used to replace the “Macintosh” name badge on the upgraded Macintosh 128k. Also included are the Macintosh Plus ROMs (342-0342-B/ 342-0341-C). With the Mac Plus ROMs, this board can support 800KB double sided floppy drives (as well as the 400KB drives). The date codes on the logic board’s chips seem to indicate that this logic board was produced sometime in late 1984. The logic board was recapped by the previous owner using tantalum capacitors. There seems to be a very short bodge wire in the vicinity of one of the replaced capacitors. The logic board is very clean and has been tested. It boots up with no issues. Most functions such as keyboard, mouse internal floppy port, and external floppy port have all been tested and are working as intended. The cardboard box is in decent overall condition with some yellowing, a couple of stains and some fraying of the cardboard lid – see pictures for condition. Considering its age, and despite it having been tested, it is being sold as-is with no returns accepted. I only ship to mainland USA and to Canada.
