Description: Moussorgsky-Ravel, Ravel & Debussy - Berlin Festival Orchestra w/ Robert Heger Conducting CD 1988This is a new, still sealed CD featuring 3 of the worlds best composers. There is a small cosmetic tear in the outer plastic wrap but other than that this CD is ready to be added to your collection. Modest Moussorgsky: A Russian composer, he was an innovator of Russian music in the Romantic period (1820 - 1840). He strove to achieve a uniquely Russian musical identity, often in deliberate defiance of the established conventions of Western music. Maurice Ravel's celebrated 1922 orchestration of Moussorgsky's 'Pictures at an Exhibition' is one of, if not, the most famous compositional versions played. This is the version you'll hear on this CD. Joseph Ravel: A French composer, pianist and conductor. He is often associated with Impressionism along with his elder contemporary Claude Debussy, although both composers rejected the term. In the 1920s and 1930s Ravel was internationally regarded as France's greatest living composer. One of Ravel's best-known works, Pavane Pour Une Infante Défunte, can also be found on this CD. Claude Debussy: A French composer, he is sometimes seen as the first Impressionist composer, although he vigorously rejected the term. He was among the most influential composers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. While he is famous for his 'Claire de lune', his three symphonic sketches, referred to as 'La Mer', were composed between 1903 and 1905. The piece was premiered in Paris in October 1905 and while not well received it became one of Debussy's most admired and frequently performed orchestral works. All three "sketches" can be found on this CD.Our price reflects any known conditions but please feel free to make us an offer.
