Good condition, in original pebble cloth binding showing some fading, with the title embossed in gilt on the front cover framed with blind rules, and similarly, title in blind on the back cover; also framed within blind rules (shelf wear at top and bottom of spine, with small loss of cloth, but not affecting contents). Based on first hand accounts, and offered as evidence; including a section on "Evidence Relating to United States Stations For Rebel Prisoners." The Supplement deals specifically with the "Sufferings of the Prisoners at Andersonville, GA." According to Nevins, Civil War Books, A Critical Bibliography, page 204: "A highly partisan work that exaggerates the horrors of Richmond prisons and the comforts of Northern ones."
