Description: This antique covered glass compote was made circa 1883."Old Abe," as it was known, features a bald Eagle figure atop the lid of this bowl. With its lid, the compote measures 10.5" heigh and 6" diameter. It is a vintage piece of Early American Pressed Glass (EAPG), as noted by the bowls paisley-like pattern. The sculptural eagle is frosted, distinguishing it from the rest of the compote. There is some minor chipping along the rim of the lid, which can be seen in the photographs; however, it is not unexpected for a 141 year old glass item. This lidded compote is an unique piece of Americana and it would be a wonderful gift for collectors and patriots alike.
