Description: Original Early Israel Defense Force Tanker Helmet. This was on a mannequin of a World War II Russian tanker at a tank museum that recently closed. Although it looks similar to the early leather, Soviet tanker helmets, it is not. I discovered that this was in fact, early Israel Defense force equipment. I am pretty sure this was a stop gap until they adopted their own design. If you look closely you can see that it was partial constructed from US navy flight helmet. I have seen examples where the soviets did this in wwii to meet the supply by using capture german flight helmets in the same way. Listed as used. The helmet is in good to very good condition for its age. There is one snap where the leather was torn. See photos for more detail of condition and id.
