After moving to Dallas in 1980, Michael started creating fine art for the national Dyansen Gallery in 1988, and also worked for Mill Pond Press in the 1990's after moving back to Kansas City. He has published three illustrated books of three of his own concept painting series, and in 2018 made national news for his Brown vs. the Board of Education mural in the Kansas State Capitol Building.
