Description: c. 1809. A Great Price for this Old Version of this Old Ships Guide book, an important reference piece of Americana and American Nautical History. A real survivor- NOT significantly water damaged as so many of these very olde ones are.. This Calf skin Leather book is a real prize for any boat owners and those interested in early American nautical/commerce history. Year 1809 published "THE AMERICAN COAST PILOT" by Edmund M Blunt of Newburyport, Mass, and Captain Lawrence Furlong, 389 pages of detailed descriptions and maps of East Coast Coastal areas, Harbors, Bays, Mouths of Rivers, including Long Island, Boston Harbour, New York Harbour, Cape Fear, Block Island, Portsmouth, Chesapeake Bay, Connecticut Coast, Baltimore, Newburyport, James River, Ipswich Bay, Potomac, Charleston Harbour, Marthas Vineyard, Sable island, Portland, Vera Cruz/Bay of Vergara, Delaware River, Cape Hatteras, and so much more. I explain Laws. Regulation, Customs, Fees, Tariffs, Locations by Longitude/Latitude, Distances between spots, recommended Nautical Courses. Lighthouse locations, shoal locations, Ledges, depths of channels, Tides/currents, etc. Has a stable binding, lightly cracked hinge some leather chipping and bruising at the corners, one missing page (half title page), rip in front inside flyleaf, some to-be-expected toning and a bit of foxing. Otherwise, this is a complete item in impressive condition for it's age and intended use...apparently one of the better survivors. Measures approx. 9" x 6".
