Description: This is a rare antique redware apple coin bank or money box was molded in two pieces with a central seam. It measures 2.4" high with an 3.4” diameter. It was likely created in the 1880s in Ohio or Pennsylvania and has an unglazed soft brick red colored surface. This apple bank is an original Americana piece, made in an unidentified pottery. It has condition issues, including a hole where a stem once sat. I see what looks like an old crack that extends from the coin slot. The hole in the center of the bottom appears to be original. The horizontal coin slot is unusual in these banks. Please look at all the photographs.
