Red Jade Leaf w Pig, 10K Bale on 18" Orange Sapphire, Pyrite Necklace, 14K Clasp

Carved like a shell cameo from a single piece of red jadeite, the greyish green part of the stone has been carved into a pig, easily identified by his beer can snout and curly tail. The red part of the stone has been carved into a leaf with nice detail and translucency. As often happens around here, Eytan came across this leaf (which has probably been in the shop unnoticed for 25 years) while looking for something else. It was originally one of a pair of earrings, but its mate is missing. Eytan decided it would make a nice pendant, so he cast a textured triangular bale in recycled gold (it doesn't quite test 14K so we're calling it 10K) just for this leaf. For the chain (which is removable), we made an 18" long necklace of alternating 3mm orange sapphires and pyrite (and when we ran out of orange sapphires, we switched to all pyrite). The closure is a 14 karat gold lobster clasp. Measurements: Pendant length (including bale): 42mm (1.65") Pendant width (at widest point): 16mm (0.63") Necklace length: 18" Necklace thickness: 3.2mm Marks: The bale is not marked but we guarantee it to be 10 karat gold. The clasp is stamped 585 for 14 karat gold. Weight: The pendant weighs 2.3 grams. The bale weighs 1 gram. The necklace weighs 10.2 grams.
