In 2017, the Detroit City Portal opened right above the original Sweet Home Mine portal on Mount Bross and not long after a significant pocket was discovered and named "Deano's Pocket" after mine geologist Dean Misantoni. Deano's pocket produced many amazing specimens and would be one of the largest pocklets discovered in the Detroit City Portal. This specimen is unique because it features a wide range of associated minerals - Rhodochrosite with pyrite and chalcopyrite sitting on top of a sphalerite/tetrahedrite matrix is a sulfide lovers dream! The large rhodo rhomb is 2cm on edge and emanates a rich red color, the top edge of the crystal does have a bit of chatter but maintains a nice edge regardless. The smaller rhodo (1cm) on the bottom of the specimen is a nice touch as well. Overall this is a really great example of the beautiful mixed mineral specimens from the now closed Detroit City Portal!
