The team was very successful, winning 14 championships and featuring many star players throughout its history, including all 3 DiMaggio brothers (Joe, Vince and Dom). San Francisco native Lefty O'Doul managed the team for 16 seasons and continued playing in games for the first half of his coaching career. In 1945, the team was bought by Paul Fagan who planned to move the Seals up to the major league level.
