Description: This 2007 release from Discovery Channel is DISC A featuring two episodes from the series "Storm Chasers." This disc is in very good condition and plays perfectly, with the following write-up on back: Opening Pursuits IMAX filmmaker Sean Casey and Research Meteorologist Josh Warman have reconvened again this year on a mission to intercept one of nature's most deadly creations, tornadoes. This year, the team is joined by two newcomers. meteorologist Justin Walker and adventure journalist Mara McFalls, a first-time storm chaser among a team of experts. In an effort to help orient Mara to the challenges that lie ahead, the team conducts a practice run in which Mara is Instructed to lay probes in the path of the pending storm. Unable to keep up with the pace, Mara falls short of her goal. It's a failed attempt that helps her realize the importance of their mission. On the first chase the team follows a cell that doesn't produce, missing the first tornado of the season that hits Tulia, Texas and ultimately destroys the town. A week later the team has another chase. At the atmosphere's urging they wake up early and set out for what some team members think could be the best day of the season. They chase for hours but find nothing Daylight is fading and so is the chance for Sean's shot. Near twilight they find a storm and race to it, but last minute adjustments cause the TIV to miss interception. Sean is done and ready to put these disappointments behind him when Josh spots another storm near their location. It is too dark to shoot IMAX footage but the TIV team decides to intercept in the name of science. They are successful and the scientists are thrilled with the data they've collected. But the season has only just begun. A Dangerous Ride After a week spent drifting around Kansas waiting for a calm spell to end. Josh, Sean and the rest of the crew are on the hunt again. They chase a huge mesocyclone across the heart of the Texas Panhandle and Into the Canadian River Valley, a wilderness area completely devoid of paved roads, making the storm virtually impossible to intercept. Against Josh's orders, Sean races the TIV down a dirt road toward the point of Interception, but ultimately panics and orders a retreat from the valley: that threatens to trap him and his crew in the middle of the massive storm. Within a few days the team hits pay day when after a complete computer failure Josh manages to place SCOUT and TIV in the center of three tornados. It is a great night for the science group but an abject failure for Sean who misses a perfect interception by seconds.
