Description: Superb antique handmade Victorian French Alencon lace flounce in a creamy soft white color, not as stark as may appear in the photos... Particularly useful for doll costuming given the small scale of the motifs, embellishing apparel, pillows, etc., this refined lace flounce features a repetitive floral motif, showcasing intricately detailed flowers, greenery & petite florets with prominent cordonnet along silky net ground. It is finished off with a scalloped bottom edge, and entredeux along the top. From yardage, each quantity measures ~36" (~1 yd) long and ~5&1/4" wide. Multiple orders will be in one continuous length. This lace appears unused and may very well be from an unused bridal trousseau. In overall very good-excellent condition with age yellowing, mild fraying along the unfinished edges, a rare tiny scraggly thread, and occasional widened net openings rather than frank breaks. Though none are noted, there may be a rare tiny light spot or tiny break. Note the occasional fine lines where the net ground was joined in the manufactural process.
