Thank you for supporting our libraries and have a great weekend. This is a collection of 9 volumes from The Great Commanders Series (the Army and Navy Editions), collected and edited by General James Grant Wilson. After service in the Union Army in the American Civil War, he settled in New York, where he edited biographies and histories, was a public speaker, and served as president of the Society of American Authors and the New York Genealogical and Biographical Society. All of these volumes are showing heavy use on the outside; as noted, the spine details have worn off, and in some cases the front cover has become completely detached from the spine (specifics below). A previous owner has written the name of the subject on the front cover in black marker. All text blocks are deckled, and the top edges are gilded. The text blocks themselves are a bit yellowed with time, but clean, clear, and unmarked; they're in great shape.Admiral Farragut (David Glasgow), by Captain A.T.
