Description: This is an exceptionally nice example of a nickel plated Griswold No 9 Dutch oven cover. Most plated cast iron does not travel through time very well. This example, manufactured in the 1940s, has passed through nearly 8 decades and only has a few minor spots of ware to the plating. It is in wonderfully restored condition and come from my personal collection. No chips, cracks or repairs.This item was stripped down to bare metal using collector approved lye bath and electrolysis treatments. This process ensures the removal of all residue from previous use making it safe to use once more. The item is lightly seasoned with one round of Crisco at 450 for 1 hour. This item was photographed in very bright light to highlight fine details. Under these lighting conditions, items may take on a brown color. Items are much darker under normal light.
