I am not certain about the age of this piece, so it could be either Buddhist or Hindu in origin. Lots of Buddhist & Hindu alters and temples were dismantled or destroyed all over Cambodia during and right after the reign of the Khmer Rouge and many of them made their way out of Cambodia. Nowadays, however, temple ornaments such as this magnificent masterpiece are increasingly difficult to find and procure. This is one of the best restored and complete pieces I have found in a very long time. Judging from its condition, it was probably an interior wall decoration. It will make a wonderful conversation piece and is a must have for any collector or Hindu or Buddhist believer.
