The rare first edition of a detailed account of the visit of His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales(later Edward VIII and subsequently The Duke of Windsor after abdicating) to The Gold Coast Colony(now the Republic of Ghana) in 1925.The book was published in The Gold Coast.Very extensively illustrated including with some large folding plates and with two colour maps to the rear of the book as issued.The largest folding plate(a panoramic view of Accra) is around a metre in width.Illustrated with more than 170 photographs.The same corrigendum slip is tipped in correctly at page 171(see pictures) and additionally at page 173.The book contains 242 pages plus ten folding photographic plates which are not numbered pages. See pictures for further details. Measures around 30 cm by 23 cm. First edition.Hardback.Blue leather lettered and decorated in gilt to the front panel.Patterned endpapers.Printer's label inside the rear cover as issued-see pictures.Gilt bright.The leather is heavily scuffed particularly at the edges,corners and spine.Leather slightly nicked at the base of the spine.Tape repair at the rear inner hinge and additionally at the preceding gutter(blank pages) and between the last page of text and the first map-see pictures.Occasional gutter break internally.A number of pages have tears at the edges which are generally in the bottom margin.There are ink stains at the bottom edge of the pages and at the foredge-see pictures.This is only slightly visible on the page faces.Some light marking and foxing to the page edges.Ink name and address to the front endpaper and a near contemporary gift inscription dated 1906 and located at Kumasi(in The Gold Coast) to the blank page facing the title page.
