VTG 1989 Sony Discman D-9 CD Player, OG Power Supply, Case, *Read Description*

Description: I bought this Sony Discman shortly after it was released in 1989. It is in Great cosmetic condition, very few light scratches, except for the front display glass which is cracked into two pieces. I have no idea how or when that occurred; I always took good care of it. The battery compartment is very clean. Included is the Original Sony Power Supply. I do not have the Sony rechargeable battery for this unit anymore. I am including this quality Current Concepts CD carrying case with an adjustable shoulder strap and three padded zippered compartments. I used this CD player occasionally for about two years until I bought another portable CD player with the buffer feature so that if the player was jarred the music would keep playing. I tested it today. The unit powers on, reads the CD and begins to play normally. After about 30 seconds it stops playing and the disc stops spinning. If I hit play again it will play track 1 from the beginning just fine but will again stop around the 30 second mark. I tried selecting track 2 during the first 30 seconds before track 1 stopped and that caused the unit to stop playing as well. I tried several CDs and got the same result. I suspect that it needs a new belt; I understand that many of these older units need a belt replacement after this many years.
